This course is the foundation upon which the rest of our Data Protection Officer (DPO) training is based. The GDPR makes it clear that, first and foremost, the data protection officer is an expert on data protection law and practice.
The purpose of this course is to explore the role of the DPO and the situations requiring their advice.
We start with a review of the application of GDPR to schools and some of the issues that it can bring up. This is followed by a view, from the regulation of the role of the DPO and how that role is translating into the world of education.
We’ll then move on to consider the role the DPO plays in breaches, data subject requests, DPIAs. Finally, we’ll review the requirement to provide ongoing advice about best practice.
To get more detail about the procedures to manage breaches and SARs, DPIAs and data mapping, you may want to look at some of our other modules.
