Data protection should be a standing item on the agenda of SLTs and Governors meetings in every school. It’s difficult to provide leadership for GDPR compliance without the right background information.
The course commences with a review of the GDPR, especially the changes from the old rules. This creates a set of tasks that the school needs to deliver to be sure that it is compliant. Some of these tasks have impacts on resourcing, particularly dealing with data breaches.
The other crucial requirement for compliance is the culture within the school. Successful data protection requires positive engagement from all members of staff. This positive engagement must be modelled by the senior team on a daily basis.
This course should be attended by as many of the leadership team or governing body as possible.
