GDPR Support for Schools and Trusts

The arrival of the GDPR has created difficulties for schools. While the principles apply to any organisation managing personal data, the scope of implementation that would otherwise apply to multi-million pound companies has been imposed on schools and even some nursery providers.

This means that all schools must have a data protection officer, map their use of personal data and consequently their data processors. The rules around the requirements for Data Protection Impact Assessments mean that a large number of projects will trigger a DPIA.

Applied in their purest form, the regulations have the potential to disrupt communications while the requirements for resource and expertise are beyond most trusts let alone individual schools.
